For some reason, I had been craving steak and gravy. A big juicy ribeye would have been good, but thought we would save that for another dinner and wanted something not as heavy. I was able to find stir fry steak at the Ingles not far from me, so that’s what gave me inspiration for this meal. I know that sometimes this type of steak can be tough and then I thought of how the crockpot could help to tenderize the meat. I hope that you enjoy this recipe. PREP/COOKING TIME: 4 hours
SERVING SIZE: 3-4
INGREDIENTS:
Cooked rice
Steak
2 tbsp of avocado oil (1 tblsp for steak and 1 tblsp for cooking)
1 1/2 - 2lbs of stir fry steak (for a more tender steak, try with ribeye steak if you can find it in the store already sliced or do it yourself)
1/2 of large onion chopped
1/2 of green pepper chopped
1 tbsp of onion powder
1 tbsp of seasoned salt
1 tbsp of garlic powder
1 tbsp of pepper
1 tsp of kosher salt
1/4 cup of Dale’s Steak Seasoning
Gravy
1. 4 tbsp of cornstarch (you may need less if you decide to use flour. Use more if you desire a thicker gravy)
*taste your gravy as you cook and add seasonings to add taste for your liking.
2. 1 1/2 cup of beef broth
3. 1 cup of water
4. 1/4 cup of half and half
5. 1 tbsp of Dale’s Steak Seasoning
DIRECTIONS
1. Start with clean steak by washing and patting dry
2. Add seasonings and avocado oil and mix well (allow to marinate if you have time)
3. Add the rest of your avocado oil to your pan and brown steak
4. Transfer steak to pre-heated crockpot with low temperature setting (save juices from the meat for your gravy)
5. In same pan add cornstarch and whisk, then add the rest of your ingredients until your gravy is smooth. Transfer to crockpot and cook for an hour.
6. After an hour, add your gravy and onions and cook for another 1 - 1 1/2 hours
7. Serve with rice (also great with mashed potatoes)
